Overview – Porsche Taycan Cross / Sport Turismo
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo are the long roof station-wagon alternatives to the electric Taycan sedan, offering a bigger back seat, added cargo space, and dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains with a max driving range of 235 miles. Horsepower ranges from 469 for base Cross Turismos up to 750 horses in the Cross Turismo Turbo S. Prices for the wagon are slightly more expensive than the sedan.
Porsche has been a leader in the sports car market for many years, but recently they have taken the plunge into electric vehicles. Their first entry into the electric car market was the Mission E concept car unveiled in 2015. This car was designed to be a direct competitor to the Tesla Model S and features a range of over 310 miles and a 0 to 60 time of 3.5 seconds.
The Porsche Taycan became the production version of the Mission E concept car and was released in 2020. The Taycan is Porsche’s first all-electric vehicle and is designed to compete with the Tesla Model S. It featured an 800-volt system which allows it to charge up to 80 percent in just 15 minutes. It also has an advanced all-wheel-drive system and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
EV Engine And Performance
The Taycan Cross Turismo is exclusively electric and all-wheel-drive, with power supplied by two electric motors with total outputs ranging between 469 and 750 horses. It has a two-speed transmission on the rear axle which helps the Turbo S model rocket to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds. The 4S model made the leap to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Interior Dimensions And Features
The Taycan Cross Turismo has a full roster of luxury amenities, an optional four or five-seat configuration, and more rear cargo space than its sedan sibling. It also has a standard panoramic sunroof and slightly more headroom in the front and rear seats.
Infotainment And Tech
The wagon has a curved digital gauge cluster, a 10.3-inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard, and a vertically mounted 8.4-inch touchscreen integrated into the center console. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, built-in navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Warranty
The limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles, and the powertrain warranty covers eight years or 100,000 miles, with no complimentary scheduled maintenance. The high-voltage battery warranty is one of the best on the market.
